This article considers certain aspects of the CEFR in relation to teacher training; readers are referred to North (2007) in this journal for a more detailed description of the work itself. Teachers’ view of the CEFR tends to be oversimplified, confusing it with the European Language Portfolio and focusing on the six levels.
