Ein Plädoyer für ein unterschätztes Genren

Reading and discussing crime stories is a motivating and successful way of practising German as a foreign language. Finding the answer to the most important question in a crime story: “Who’s done it?” is very motivating and helps students to finish a book, even if the language is not always easy. By reading novels set in a German-speaking country students become familiar with various European regions. They learn a lot about the German language, the attitudes and the living conditions in different places and the history of these countries as well as learning about each others’ ideas by expressing their opinions. Since the plot of a crime story shows people in extreme situations it is often interesting for the students to think of reasons explaining the figures’ behaviour. Crime stories are not often considered to be ‘good literature’ and students are not impressed by the names of great crime story authors so when they are “only” reading crime stories they are not afraid of making “wrong” statements but are encouraged to discuss. | Ausgangssituation Warum aber Krimis? |
